We had an incredible stay at Monara over 6 nights. The room was very comfortable - we had a beautiful view of the sea from our bed, the beach in front of the hotel is safe to swim (although the surf can get a bit raucous!). Fortunately the amazing pool has you covered if you don't want to contend with the sea. The food is excellent with seafood being bought fresh to order the morning of. There are also a plethora of local options and there is no pressure to eat at the hotel if you do not wish to. The best part however are the lovely staff. Everyone from Upul the manager, to housekeeping, chef and security are so welcoming and kind. You will not regret staying here!
The perfect place for people who love comfort, peace and a lot of nature. Very wonderful, lonely beaches to discover nearby. The secluded luxurious hotel has six very nice rooms, very quiet, with wonderful views, very modern and clean. Excellent food. Manager Upul and his team offer very friendly, competent and helpful service. When I come back to Sri Lanka, this place will definitely be back on my list!
Literally everything. The house itself it's one of the most beautiful and cared facilities I've been into. Every single detail has been studied and it could be on a magazine of interior design. The staff is super kind and helpful, the beach was so beatific we didn't need to check out any other. All in all, the best stay out of many so far.
Amazing property, which is even better in real life than the photos look. Very tastefully decorated and the rooms are very comfortable. Amazing staff who will do everything to try and make sure you have a great stay, super tranquil, very high standard property with a lovely beach at the bottom of the garden. Very close to Hiriketya which has lots of bars and restaurants whilst being in a peaceful and quiet location. It won't be long before this place is fully booked long in advance. If you are concerned that there are limited reviews so far, it is because this hotel is very new but you will not regret booking it. 10/10.
a new boutique hotel located in a beautiful place away from the hustle and bustle, by a wide sandy beach. On a scale of 10/10 that's still not enough. The hotel impresses from the moment you enter, with beautiful decor and tastefully furnished rooms. The rooms are large and well-equipped. But most importantly, the service is excellent and discreet. The heart of this place is definitely the people who put a lot of effort into making your stay unforgettable.
I absolutely loved my stay at Monara. The property is beautiful and so peaceful. The location is perfect as it close to Tangalle and just a quick tuk-tuk ride to Hiriketiya Beach. My room was gorgeous, so comfortable and open, and I loved having a balcony to sit out on in the mornings. The food was a highlight! The chef in the property is so talented and prepared authentic Sri Lankan recipes along with western dishes. I had the best egg hoppers for breakfast and the curry night was unforgettable. There are so many calm spots to do yoga or just relax by the pool, and the beach nearby is usually empty which is a treat. The team made everything so easy. Upul was amazing, the staff were so kind. It truly was a special and relaxing experience staying at Monara. There really wasn't anything I didn't like … maybe just that I didn't get to stay longer! It was such a relaxing and well-run property.
One of my best hotel surprises (and I'm used to nice hotels). More than a hotel, it's a magnificent house with 6 perfectly maintained bedrooms, an amazing swimming pool and very nice facilities. The food is very good and they even agreed to go beyond what the menu offers to prepare Sri Lankan dishes which we greatly enjoyed. The beach is a 5-minute walk away. It is a beach of about 3km of white sand with fairly large waves but perfect for bodyboarding (which the hotel provides). My children, aged 10 to 15, were able to swim without any problems, as the waves were not dangerous. We had all three ground floor bedrooms, all very comfortable and very well decorated. The bathrooms are beautiful and very comfortable. The staff are really attentive and friendly. Truly flawless!
